Corjuem Fort - History details

Corjuem Fort, built in 1710 by the Portuguese, is one of Goa’s smaller inland forts overlooking the Mapusa River near Aldona. Constructed from laterite stone, it once protected against Maratha incursions and housed military outposts. The fort offers panoramic views of villages and paddy fields. The surrounding region features traditional feasts and parish celebrations, making visits between November and February particularly pleasant.
