A natural harbour at Ayikkara, Kannur, Mappila Bay lies between Fort St. Angelo (1505 Portuguese) and Arakkal Palace, once linking Kolathunadu with Lakshadweep and overseas traders. Geography: a quiet inshore basin still used as a fishing harbour. Interesting: sunset boat rides and fort views are draws. Special dates: best seas for boating Oct–Mar; monsoon seas can be rough.
