Pathar ( Pather ) Masjid, Srinagar - History details

Built in 1623 by Mughal Empress Nur Jahan, Pathar Masjid is a stone‑built mosque in old Srinagar, set on the left bank of the Jhelum opposite Khanqah‑e‑Moula. Distinguished by nine arches and the absence of a typical Kashmiri pyramidal roof, it was repurposed for secular use for centuries before reconsecration in 1931. Today it remains an active mosque and protected monument.
