Ballari ( Bellary ) Fort - Upper & Lower Forts - History details

Crowning Ballari Gudda, the Upper Fort (Vijayanagara‑era, Hanumappa Nayaka) and Lower Fort (Hyder Ali, 18th c.) blend natural granite with ramparts, bastions, tanks and a small hilltop shrine. A French engineer who redesigned the lower fort is said to have been executed; his grave lies by the east gate.
