Within St. Joseph’s Monastery on Carmel Hill, the modern Infant Jesus Shrine was inaugurated on 11 January 1996, though the Carmelites’ presence in Mangaluru dates to 1947 and earlier missions. The church’s symbolic architecture and weekly Thursday novenas draw pilgrims across faiths. Each year around 15 January, a grand feast with multilingual liturgies and candlelit processions fills the precincts and surrounding lanes.
