Pavagadh Hill, part of a prehistoric volcanic formation, rises 800 m over Champaner and hosts the ancient Kalika Mata Temple, a major Shakti Peeth. The UNESCO‑listed Champaner‑Pavagadh Archaeological Park preserves forts, mosques and temples dating from the 8th–16th centuries. Its origin myths link Sati and Vishwamitra.
