Shree Somnath Temple - History details

Rebuilt in 1951 on the Prabhas Patan coast, Somnath is famed as the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Its history spans multiple reconstructions after raids between the 11th and 18th centuries. Positioned where the Arabian Sea meets Kathiawar, sunsets frame its Chalukyan‑style shikhara. Special dates: Maha Shivaratri and Kartik Purnima draw huge pilgrims.
